I don't know how far the completion of this painting is, since you edited the description a few times. It still feels like a work in progress to me.
A few things I notice as soon as I saw it: the composition is ok and the details are present. I like the way you enhanced his corset (I don't know the English word for it, lol)
What I would point out for improvement is the fire, the skin and the swordblade. If you look at photos of skin in front of fire, you'll notice that it will turn darker towards the fire, and then suddenly appear a lot brighter. Fire is mostly yellow and orange, but the glow around fire in objects in front of it, are mostly a bright red (like the neckpart of the helmet)
The skin seems a bit dull. Maybe you used too much grey in it. A little bit of saturation could do miracles I think.
The blade of the sword could be enhanced too. Maybe browse around for images of blades and see what light does to it. You'll be surprised how complex it is.
